QUOTABLE QUOTES...........

My collection of fav quotations from various sources...Internet,Books,Magazines, word of mouth etc etc. They come in handy a lot of times.

Life is partly what we make it ,and partly what it is made by the friends we choose!!!

Networking is not about how many people you know;its about the number of people you can count on.

Real magic in relationships means an absence of judgement of others.

Better to have 10 people dislike you for the right reason than to have one person like you for the wrong one.Be yourself.

'TIME' is God’s way to keep everything from happening at once.

Winners don't do different things. They do things differently.

More to be added soon.....................

The Corporate College

Picture this...Friday evening .......Excitement is already in the air( More so like a relief). The girls are making plans for shopping while the guys just wanna catch up on their sleep and maybe a movie too.:) U guessed it right...this is a typical Friday evening scene in most of the offices. Everyone is waiting for the weekend and in this case no body complains. With just 1 month into the corporate life, i realize the importance of a weekend myself.
I had been sitting the whole day and decided to take a stroll outside. The lush green campus after the rains looks very inviting and i couldn't resist myself .i came out and started walking towards the Zoo.For a moment i felt as i was standing in my engineering college campus. Read more and you'll find out as to what made me say this.

  SCENE 1:

The playground looked full today. If on one hand there was running between the wickets;the other group of boys were ready with a volleyball in their hand. There was hooting, cheering and clapping all around.

SCENE 2 :

I saw a large group of employees laughing and taking pictures. On going closer i realized that a team had decided to conduct its review meeting in the open .The ending was well planned with a small game and a round of snacks and soft drinks.

 SCENE 3:

The Zoo is located at almost the centre of the campus. No wonder the employees always find it convenient to come out and spend some time with the nature.I saw a group of girls walking around the place and smiling over some incident that had happened in their team this morning. The walk didn't quite serve its purpose coz very soon it turned into a photohoot.:)

SCENE 4:

It was 6.45 P.M ......Time to get into the bus. Due to some reason the number of buses were lesser than the usual and hence every bus was crowded. From throwing a hanky through the window to reserving a seat with the ID card to pushing each other, a lot was happening.

Ok,so you must be wondering why all this?As for me ,i loved being a witness to each of these activities or situations. Is this what we call employee engagement. Maybe yes or maybe no and  was very certain of the fact i had seen atleast a part of the engagement model today and also met  some of the
 'Engaged Employees'.

Nostalgic Networking

Facebook…Roti…Kapda aur Makaan, that’s the order now a days.  There is a lot of similarity between FB and a Fridge. We keep checking them again and again knowing there wouldn’t be anything new.

Social Networking has indeed changed the way we look at relationships. Not having an account in Orkut was considered out-of-place sometime back. Orkut now seems to have given way to a host of other networking sites like LinkedIn,Twitter,Facebook etc.

I was introduced to this Socially acceptable networking 3 years ago. Like most people ,i also started with Orkut but slowly moved onto or rather got hooked onto Facebook and Twitter.

Why Nostalgic Networking then? Well ,in the last 3 years i ve had instances where i got requests from very old friends of mine.(Langotia Yaar ).Getting connected to them and recollecting the good old times has been the biggest and the best advantage of having an account in these sites. Old times come with memories…some good, some naughty and some unpleasant but everything can make you nostalgic for sometime atleast.

I am a student of HR and love interacting with people. Strong networking skills would always work in your favour is what i ve heard from a lot of people. With the changing face of technology, having a strong virtual presence is equally important for all of us.

Gotta go nowtime for some quick status updates

I'm Glad.....I was wrong

The incident took place a week back.It was 8.30 A.M and i was late for the office bus :( ( Since mng, Murphy's law had been working to its best.....waking up late;forgetting I-card,almost missing the office bus etc etc).I could have gone to office on my own but i prefer the bus for a very simple reason....u get to catch up on your sleep for another 45 mins.:)In an attempt to make it just on time for the bus, i decided to hire a auto till the bus bay.I kept telling the driver to go fast but due to the heavy traffic he wasn't able to do anything.

I was about to reach and spotted the bus from a distance. In a hurry to get down ,i quickly paid the auto driver and got into the bus.Ah...Mr Murphy was still following me....there were no vacant seats and i had to stand. Everybody sitting was fast asleep.I decided to sms a few friends of mine and looked for my mobile in the bag.( The bag is generally cluttered these days and thats why i had to look hard for my phone.)oh....oh....what was happening.....i wasn't able to find it even after 2 attempts of searching the bag inside out.Thankfully i had another mobile and decided to call up my mom and find out if i had left the other one at home.she also searched but to no avail. oh....what was i going to do now.??? There were too many thoughts in my mind at that time. The only option i could think of at that time was to get down from the bus and then decide the action plan.

Having got down,i took an auto till the bus bay again.....something told me that i'd perhaps left the mobile in the auto itself.( i guess Murphy had decided this to be the climax of the day). After asking this auto driver also to speed up,i finally reached. i quickly got down and tried to locate the auto driver(Thankfully,i remembered his face very well). There were too many autos and i wasn't able to spot him. At a distance i saw a lot of auto drivers standinga nd decided to seek their help. They listened to the whole story and said they knew the auto driver very wellcoz they'd seen me getting down and running behind the office bus. I was little better now. one amongst the auto drivers called up this driver and asked him his whereabouts and about the mobile. He disconnected the call without replying. For a moment i thought i'd lost it.(This mobile was a gift from my Sis and jiju and i was already feeling angry on my carelessness.)

After 20 mins i saw an auto coming and stopping near me and a hand taking out the mobile and handing it to me. Thank god...my hearbeat was back to normal.:) I immediately called my mom and told her that i'd found my mobile.she was really happy on hearing that and told me that she knew i'd find it.

Any number of 'Thankyou(s)' would have been less for the driver.I took out some money to give him but he refused.Inspite of telling him to take the money and buy something for his kids;he was not ready to listen. He just said'Madam, yeh toh meri duty thi.Iskiye liye mujhe paise nahi chahiye' and left.I was speechless. The morning's irritation had come down and i wanted to clap for the driver.I thanked the other drivers as well who had helped me all this while. One amongst them told me that they(The auto drivers) had a very strong union and were very particular about certain things like :-

1.Drinking and driving was a complete no-no and any driver found drunk while on duty had to pay a fine of Rs 1000 to the union fund.

2.Incase of an emergency like accident or a patient going to the hospital for some medical reason;the trip was free. The drivers did not charge any money from such people.
3.Incase a fellow driver was unwell;the other auto drivers contributed some money and ensured that their co-driver got himself treated in a good hospital.

I wish i could stand there and listen to some more of these kind acts of these drivers but i was already very late to the office .
God has his own way of making you realize certain things. After meeting these auto drivers and the one who returned my mobile i have only one thing to say:
'Small gestures by people can force you to change your thinking'.Afterall,Its time we stopped saying....'Yeh autowale toh aise hi hote hain.Inpe bharosa nahi kiya ja sakta!'
I was glad this thinking of mine had been proved wrong.

3 Cheers to these auto drivers....

Expressive Emoticons.....

Emoticons or Smileys as we generally like to call them are perhaps the most adored and used while chatting and Smsing.
A picture speaks a thousand words’ was then. ‘An Emoticon speaks many moods‘ is the latest.
Yes, for every mood, expression and feeling there is a smiley. From a happy one to a sad one to a winking one, there is one for everybody.
Yellow signifies brightness, sunshine and friendship. An emoticon in any other color would not make any impact when used.
Video calling in mobile as a feature is still sometime away. In the meantime,a cute smiley would help anyone convey their feeling to the other person.
So,what are you waiting for?
Go,pick up the mobile ,type a text and use as many smileys as you want. They are all waiting to be emoted...

Highlighting DREAMZ !!!

Highlighter--One of the most important stationery for me during the exams. From fluorescent to blue to orange, any type would do as long as it makes the book look colorful. The more colorful the book; ,the more i feel like studying.
During the exams i have the habit of sleeping with all my books on my bed and with the tube light on and 29th April was one such day.I was studying late night and felt sleepy in between. With the highlighter in my hand,i slept from 2.00am to 6.00am and got up only to keep my books aside, switch off the lights and sleep again.
In the morning my friends came to wake me up and saw me sleeping with the highlighter gripped tight in my hand.Knowing my craze for stationery they asked me the reason for not leaving the highlighter even while sleeping .Here's what i had to say....

The direct conversation as it happened:

My friend: Kya yaar Srinidhi, u didn't leave the pen even while sleeping.what were you trying to do?

Me: I was highlighting my dreams with the highligher.kabhi kabhi hum itne sapne dekhte hain ki sabse achhe walon ko highlight karna achha lagta hain.U'll remember them for a longer time.

My Friend: Badiya hai....U have become too poetic or u've had an overdose of labour laws(coz we had our labour law exam the following day).Thodi der aur aaram kar lo.

Me: Neend mein bhi creativity...thats the way to go.:)

well, one highlighter was indeed capable of creating an interesting conversation which seemed amusing on later thoughts.
